Most painters and I, too love Graco sprayers, but Graco makes it so damn complicated.
Graco has so much to offer. The people I hear from cannot understand it all.
For professional painters it’s the cost that matters most. They know the Graco sprayer they choose will be reliable and easy to maintain and repair no matter what they buy.
But Graco has four CATEGORIES of sprayers: DIY, Project, Pro, and Commercial.
What to do?
You can go right to the Graco site and read. But there’s too much to read!
So I have simplified things for you non-pros.
There are really two ways to go: budget or costly.
In general I recommend that you buy a top-level pro-machine even if you won’t use it much.
Here’s my thinking.
OPTION 1: Go Pro
You will have an awesome top-of-the-line sprayer, and you’ll spend 6 to 8 hundred bucks.
Then, after you are done, you’ll post it for sale on ebay or facebook marketplace (or wherever) and you will get back at least half of what you spent.
You can honestly post it with, “Used once” which tells the buyer it is almost new.
Somebody will get a great deal. Big tip on selling: you will need to take really good care of it and prove it to your buyer. If you buy a used machine you are definitely taking a chance, and they know that.

OPTION 2: Go budget
You’ll spend the same money in the end, but your machine will not spray for hundreds of hours before it needs work which you are probably not ready to do.
The better sprayers have a quick-change pump system to keep professionals on the go, rather than having to take it to the shop and lose money. (The Graco Magnum X5, X7, and Project Painter Plus DO NOT have a quick-change pump system).
Sometimes I wish that they would make only a few models, but then that would be living in the Soviet Union. Meh.
